An old Shanghai street with 1930s European architecture. 1930s CARS, RICKSHAWS, pedestrians, and newspaper boys are on the move. Boys in rags carry newspapers, chasing rickshaws and begging for people to buy papers. MILITARY TRUCKS full of Japanese soldiers are driving on the streets; car horns sound, and TROLLEYBUSES can be seen. A line of Japanese soldiers enters the scene, passing a silk store that people are entering and exiting. A group of filmmakers gathers around a monitor.
