Greg Gang CHEN is a screenwriter and author whose stories place private lives inside the forces of history, politics, and social change.
Greg writes from lived experience and a sustained interest in contemporary Chinese history.
After years of translating movie scripts, he began writing his own screenplays during the COVID-19 pandemic. His first two published collections bring together ten scripts, with stories spanning childhood, family, education, faith, gender, migration, identity, and political power.
His work often follows ordinary people as public systems enter private life. Rather than treating history as a distant spectacle, the screenplays focus on memory, moral choice, resilience, and the costs carried across generations.
Greg studied at the Institute of Education, University of London, from 2007 to 2008. He has also worked as a screenplay translator and performer.
